SOTW - June
Your Name - LIFE Worship
This song made Song Of The Week 1st June.
Psalm 68:4 (NLT) “Sing praises to God and to his name! Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds. His name is the Lord, rejoice in his presence!”
Jesus has experienced all that we are to experience in our lives, and because he has done this it means we can turn to Him for anything we need; whether this be questions, prayers, crying out. Jesus took it all on His shoulders so He can be our help in times of need.
Pour Me Out - Brandon Lake
This song made Song Of The Week 8th June.
Psalm 51:11-13 (ESV) “Cast me not away from your presence and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.”
Over the past couple weeks people globally have been facing a series of difficulties. They have been particularly weighing down many of our hearts and spirits. But this song is a reminder to us that God is always calling us to be vessels of his hope, his peace, his grace, his love, his forgiveness. Demonstrating what Jesus came down to set an example of in his mission here on earth.
The River Bows - NONAH
This song made Song Of The Week 15th June.
Joshua 23:14 (NLT) “Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true.”
As christians we are always experiencing things in our spiritual seasons that require us to trust in God, which ultimately is an opportunity to help grow and strengthen our trust in God. However, there are definitely times when having that faith is easier said than done. This song highlights the importance of the fact that what God has promised to us will come to pass, His promises never fail, His love never fails and He never fails.
Hear You - WYLD, Jon Sewell, Sarah Nathalie
This song made Song Of The Week 22nd June.
Jeremiah 33:3 (ESV) “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”
WYLD wrote this song about the distractions that come with notifications and alerts from our phones and social media. We are in a time right now where our devices are our main connection and communication to the world around us. This song is about wanting to tune in to the voice of our God amongst all the chaos that can come from all the other voices that influence us. We have the ability to still hear God through all of this media, and we can also use it as a platform to spread the voice and word of God to others in new ways! Let’s tune into the right voice of our Saviour and find new and inventive ways to spread the gospel.
Communion - Mark Barlow & Gable Price and Friends
This song made Song Of The Week 29th June.
1 Corinthians 11:16 (ESV) “For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.”
This song talks about our longing as Christians for a connection and a relationship with Jesus. Yes this is a way to remember what Jesus promised us, but we are still able to experience the power of that promise that God granted us, of an eternal life with Him if we say yes, for our sins to be forgiven, to be loved unconditionally for the whole of our lives. God designed us to long for relationships and connections, and He provides us with that once we say yes to Him.
