SOTW - April
Even Louder - People Of The Earth
This song made Song Of The Week 6th April.
Psalm 59:16-17 (NLT) “But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love. For you have been my refuge, a place of safety when I am in distress. O my Strength, to you I sing praises, for you, O God, are my refuge, the God who shows me unfailing love.”
The writers of ‘Even Louder’ interpret what is said in Psalm 59 as the louder we sing, the more of His strength we will experience in our lives. Praising God has the power to shift our perspective of the problems we find ourselves up against, moving it to the solution that God is to these things.
Fountain (I Am Good) - Mosaic MSC
This song made Song Of The Week 13th April.
Psalm 139:13-14 (NLT) “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.”
The vocalist who features on this track, Mariah McManus simply shares this about the song. “Being fully human is a beautiful thing. It means understanding that you were created out of love and made worthy of being loved. Even though too often society, or even our own inner narrative, tells us that we are unwanted and unloved, if we understood just how loved we are, it would unravel us to our core.” If we know our identity is in Christ we will be able to understand the reasons why God created us the way He has and for what purpose. It’s all about what we listen to, God or the world around us.
Born To Be Wild - Elle Limebear
This song made Song Of The Week 20th April.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
Elle Limebear herself says this about this track on her album ‘Lost In Wonder. ” This song is an encouragement for every generation. To be wild in our love, generosity, forgiveness, ideas and dreams. It’s a tap on the shoulder to say stop thinking of all the ins and out, the ‘what if’s’, the mess in mind. But to remember that God is in control, that there is more to life than those worries. It’s now our time to take hold of vision with authority, to stay committed, to love boldly and wildly in our pursuit to build the Kingdom!”
Joy - Lion Of Judah
This song made Song Of The Week 27th April.
Galatians 5:22 (NLT) “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
This song made song of the week this week as a reminder that we are able to find joy in every circumstance. Although fear, guilt and loss exist in the world we live in today, God has given us the fruit of our spirits - joy - which we can find in everything, regardless of whether it is a small joy of the day or something bigger!
