SOTW - March

Faithful Now - Vertical Worship

This song made Song Of The Week 2nd March.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT) ““For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord, “they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.””

Faithful Now is a song about how God will always make a way for us regardless of what seasons we find ourselves in. Sometimes we can fail to understand this, but we can recognise that what we cannot understand, God definitely can. And because of this we can know He’ll make sense of it and make it work for our good. “I am holding onto faith, cause I know you’ll make a way. I don’t always understand, I don’t always get to see. But I will believe it, I will believe it.”

Fire In My Bones - SEU Worship

This song made Song Of The Week 9th March.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NLT) “But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.”

This song from SEU Worship proclaims God’s faithfulness and how as children of God we have been blessed in every way, from the very beginning of our journey with Him to the present day of this season. Regardless of the place of our faith, whether we see and hear Him or not, He fuels our faith and our spirit. “Even when I couldn’t see it, Even when I can’t believe it, You are by my side.”

Weapon - Vertical Worship

This song made Song Of The Week 16th March.

Psalm 149:6 (NIV) “May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands.”

Weapon by Vertical Worship is a single off of their new album. This song enables us, through worship to learn the true power of our praise to our Heavenly Father. Worship is something we can do in any form, at any time, regardless of how we feel. In the chorus of the song it proclaims just that. “So when I’m broken, at my weakest, and in my darkest hour. I’ll let my worship be a weapon on this battleground. From the depths of the lowest place, I will give You the highest praise…” .  The reason why this is the song of the week is that the authority that God has given us comes in all forms; including worship. Worship can open up doors to God speaking to us through our time of praise to Him.

The Blessing - Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, Elevation Worship

This song made Song Of The Week 23rd March.

Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT) “May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favour and give you His peace.”

The lyrics of ‘The Blessing’ have been taken straight from scripture. Because of this, it works beautifully in a congregational setting as the worship leader is singing to the congregation, and the congregation sing it back to the worship leader. The writers describe it as a declaration song that’s all inclusive for all the Church. They believe they wrote this song out of place of trusting that God knew what has come, He knows what is coming - especially in the time it was written in the process of quarantine getting stricter and stricter.

Faith & Wonder - Meredith Andrews, Abbie Simmons & Cody Ray Lee

This song made Song Of The Week 30th March.

Hebrews 12:28 (NLT) “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.”

This song is as simple as an offering to God glorifying Him and the power He has. “This name that storms the gates of hell, the only word my life will live to tell.” This song was written in a season of wanting to operate from a place of faith in God, where we can stand and say that we don’t know what is coming next, but we know that God has got us. It also comes from a place of wonder for God, looking back and seeing all the things He has done, and standing in awe of it all.
