SOTW - March
No Other Name - Ashtyn Michael
This song made Song of The Week on 4th March, leading us into the week with adoration in our hearts for the one who is stronger than that which we may come up against.
John 3:16 (NLT)
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
Ashtyn wrote this song after the passing of a very close friend, using the pain and the questions he had for God to write a song that glorified Him.
It demonstrates how God is the everlasting Father that we can run to in our times of struggle and praising God for the endless amounts of kindness He offers to us, His children.
I Belong - Orphan No More
This song made Song of The Week on 11th March. A reminder of who our identity is in as Christians and who we belong to.
Galatians 5: 24 - 25 (NLT)
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”
‘I Belong’ is a song written by Orphan No More, helping us to declare key factors of our identity as Christians in the world that we live in. Singing about God being our strength, hope and peace and how we are dependent on this longing for God to be our refuge.
This song also contains the truth that if we live in who God says we are and what He does for us, then we do not need to be afraid because His strength carries us. This is an important reminder, and something that’s also amazing about our relationship with Jesus is that His strength means that we can carry on and not have to rely on our own human strength.
Great & Glorious - Martin Smith
This song made Song Of The Week on 18th March. This song is an anthem that takes us through the week glorifying the name of our King.
Psalm 89 (NLT)
“I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever! Young and old will hear of your faithfulness. Your unfailing love will last forever. Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.”
This is Martin Smith’s most recent release after a break from his Back To The Start in 2014. A glorification worship song that encourages us to be continuous in recognising who God is. “We were born to be alive, we were born to lift you high.” A song that both glorifies God and reminds us of who He has created us to be, and what He created us to do.
Promises Never Fail - Bethel Music, Emmy Rose
This song made Song Of The Week on 25th March. An encouragement to us that all that God has and will promise us will not fail, regardless of what the world has to say.
Joshua 23:14 (NLT)
“Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true.”
Promises Never Fail is a song that is packed out with truth straight from the Word. “For I know Your thoughts, Your plans for me are good…” echoes the scripture that comes from Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord. “They are plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…”. This is one of our favourite scriptures, and one that we feel people can relate to at any season that they are in.
